Briahna Patterson - Photographer
I have a passion for
photography, I am able to produce images of high quality with very little
equipment. But with only just over a years’ worth of real quality experience
and utterly self-taught, I was able to have the full interest in taking photos
and producing images that the audience responded positively towards. This
motivated me into taking on photography a lot more seriously.
I had first began shooting with landscape and nature which triggered a slight passion of mine for photography. I then started getting into fashion photography where every shoot was extremely different. I found it an amazing learning curve, everything is so exciting. From the models to the hair and makeup and to the styling, it was all so fabulous. I adore the changing cultures of the fashion and beauty industries. It is definitely something that I would consider going forward with in my future. I’ve acquired the necessary know-how needed to work with whatever equipment I have which is very little. With just the flash from a camera and a computer to edit, I was able to produce extraordinary photos.
I hope to succeed in my photography and be acknowledged for the style of photo’s I produce. I want to share my dreams and goals for the future to show everyone how motivated and highly determined I am to succeed in the photography industry. So far I plan to start a career out of my photography. For the past three months I have been employed to photograph people for personal portfolio’s as well as working as a part time photographer for an online company that is owned by the New Zealand Post. In my personal time, I collaborate with other artists and scout my own models. Eventually I submit them into agencies to start off their careers as well as mine.
I have overall won quite a few awards as well as prizes from recent events from online. This includes Vogue Italia Approvals, ViewBug (which includes professional star judges), Wellington Fashion Week Catwalk (Exposed Competition), Tall Poppies (Gifted Awareness Competition) and having my images exhibited and printed on shirts for a high fashion brand in London called the Vest-Store. My photography exhibits on a variety gallery sites as well as my own social sites that include Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Vogue.it, wfweek.co.nz, Flickr, ViewBug, YouPic, and my personal official website.

Why I decided to start 'Bri Interviews Models'
I had come to a wonderful conclusion. Not only did I want to take fashion photos, I wanted to write about them too. I have gotten into a bit of reporting and interests in photo journalism. I think this would be a great boost to a career start as a journalist/reporter as well as photography included. I thought that my photo's deserved to be written about. As everyone says “A Picture is worth a thousand words”, well if so, I wanted to show my side of the story. With this blog being concentrated on ‘signed models,’ I wanted to introduce to you and teach you the ways of the modelling and fashion industries. This relates to my fashion photography, I enjoy and absolutely adore it, but the thing is, it’s completely different in the models eyes than the photographer’s eyes. I want to show you the reality of the model industry. The stereotype is that it is a ‘fake’ world. I am such a realistic person, so why would I want to get involved in this industry? Well, here you go, these interviews will show you the opinions, choices, the highlights and the behind the scenes of the real modelling world. Dream it or fake it. This is the reality. There is so much passion and beauty that goes towards the fashion and photography/modeling world. Everyone comes together as one with similar minds which we can manipulate into a project that is almost unthinkable.
The models I interview will be interviewed face to face. I would love to personally introduce myself to them and really mingle into what they think of the fashion and modeling industries. The models will also get a small shoot to physically show who they are and how proud to be who they are and what they have achieved in the modeling world.
